During the breeding season, which typically occurs in spring and early summer, adult Murray Cod migrate to spawning grounds in rivers and creeks. The males excavate nest depressions in sandy or gravelly areas and attract females to lay their eggs. After spawning, the males guard the nests until the eggs hatch.
